Part of the Plastic Defense Kit

Fiber Shield on its own: daily fiber for the gut's front line.

Fiber Shield handles the gut-level work of DEFEND + TRAP. Clear supports NEUTRALIZE + ELIMINATE through liver, antioxidant, bile and elimination support.

  • Feeds beneficial bacteria and supports short-chain fatty acid production*
  • Supports the gut lining and its protective mucus layer*
  • Forms a gentle gel-like matrix that helps trap unwanted compounds and keep them moving*
  • Formulated to be gentle enough for consistent daily use
  • One half of the Plastic Defense Kit: pair it with Clear

Do I need both?

Fiber Shield works on its own for daily gut support. Pair it with Clear for coordinated support across the gut, liver, cellular defenses and natural elimination pathways. Trapping a particle is only half the job; Clear is the other half.

How to take it

One teaspoon. Every day.

Exposure happens every day. Support should too.

  1. Fiber Shield

Stir one teaspoon (about 5 g) into a glass of water, once a day. The okra and prickly pear fibers hydrate into a gentle gel-like matrix.

  • If your diet is low in fiber, start gradually and drink enough water. Some people notice changes in regularity within days; others need more time.
  • If you take prescription medication, have a medical condition, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask your healthcare professional first.

Is Fiber Shield gentle on the gut?

Fiber Shield was intentionally formulated to be gentle enough for consistent daily use.

Fermentation happens when your gut bacteria break down fiber and use it as food.

Some fibers are broken down very quickly. This can create a sudden increase in gas.

In research, NatureKnit® showed a slower fermentation pattern that continued through the full 48 hours of the test. This gives gut bacteria more time to use the fiber and may create a gentler experience. It also allows more fiber to reach bacteria farther along in the colon.

Okra and prickly pear also hydrate and create a soothing gentle, gel-like texture inside the digestive tract.

Everyone's gut is different. If you aren't used to taking fiber, start slowly, drink plenty of water and give your digestive system time to adjust.

Why is more fiber not always better?

A larger dose doesn't automatically make a fiber supplement more effective or easier on your stomach. In fact, a low dose of a multi-source, polyphenol-bound fiber may out-perform a larger dose of a single-source purified fiber. This is due to the complexity of the fiber matrix, which leads to a more diverse microbiome and a slower fermentation period.

Some fibers, such as single-source purified ones, break down quickly, and taking too much at once can lead to gas, bloating or cramping. A single-source fiber offers one kind of food and only feeds certain species of the microbiome. This is known as prebiotic monoculture.

In contrast, NatureKnit®, the main fiber in Fiber Shield, brings together a more complex mix of fruit and vegetable fibers. NatureKnit also keeps the plant's natural polyphenols bound to the fiber. They travel together to the colon, where gut bacteria help release the polyphenols and break down the fiber. This gives bacteria access not only to the fiber but also to all of the plant compounds.

This complex fiber matrix leads to microbial diversity and richness. The fiber blend breaks down slowly, supporting steady production of beneficial short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), including acetate, propionate and butyrate. These are the reasons a smaller dose can significantly increase overall microbial diversity and richness more than a larger dose of a single-source fiber.

Our goal is to give your gut a varied mix of plant fibers and polyphenols it can put to use. A bigger scoop alone doesn't tell the whole story.

I have other supplements with more fiber, is it better?

The number of grams is only part of the story. The type of fiber and what your gut bacteria can do with it also matter.

Each five-gram serving of Fiber Shield contains 2.5 grams of NatureKnit®, the same amount evaluated in its microbiome study.

In that research, NatureKnit produced significantly more total SCFAs (short-chain fatty acids) than the control, psyllium and inulin. The individual SCFAs that increased included acetate, propionate and butyrate.

Fiber Shield isn't trying to win a "most grams of fiber" contest. It provides researched fibers in purposeful amounts and pairs them with complementary plant ingredients that are designed to work together.

What does each ingredient in Fiber Shield do?

Fiber Shield combines four complementary organic ingredients:

  • NatureKnit® organic fruit and vegetable fiber blend provides diverse plant fibers and naturally bound polyphenols that nourish beneficial bacteria, strengthen the gut barrier and support sustained postbiotic production.*
  • Okralin™ okra fiber hydrates into a gentle, gel-like matrix that helps hold digestive contents together and carry waste toward elimination.*
  • Organic prickly pear provides pectin and natural mucilage to nourish beneficial bacteria and support the intestinal lining and protective mucus layer.*
  • Organic beetroot supplies betalains and other plant compounds that provide antioxidant support against everyday oxidative stress.*

Together, these ingredients help support the microbiome, strengthen the gut environment, form a gentle matrix and keep waste moving.*

What is a polyphenol-bound fiber, and how is it different from inulin or psyllium?

It is plant fiber that still carries the polyphenols it grew with. Purified fibers such as inulin and psyllium leave those compounds behind. NatureKnit®, the main fiber in Fiber Shield, keeps them. In the producer-funded laboratory model of the colon, it produced more short-chain fatty acids than either, gram for gram of fiber.

What are short-chain fatty acids, and why do they matter?

Short-chain fatty acids, also known as SCFAs or postbiotics, are beneficial compounds made when gut bacteria ferment certain fibers. The best-known examples are acetate, propionate and butyrate.

SCFAs help fuel the cells lining the colon, maintain healthy tight junctions and encourage production of the gut's protective mucus layer. They also support healthy immune signaling and communication between the gut and other systems throughout the body, including the gut-brain axis. SCFAs also promote metabolic health and support a healthy inflammatory response.

In its human microbiome model, NatureKnit® produced significantly more total SCFAs than psyllium and inulin.

This is one reason Fiber Shield looks beyond regularity. The right fibers give beneficial bacteria raw materials they can turn into compounds that not only support gut health but also promote a healthy mind and body.

How does Fiber Shield support the body against everyday microplastic exposure?

The digestive tract is one of the first places ingested microplastics arrive. The microbiome, intestinal barrier, protective mucus layer and regular elimination all influence what stays inside the digestive tract, what leaves through stool and what may cross into the body.

Fiber Shield supports this environment by nourishing beneficial bacteria, encouraging short-chain fatty acid production, supporting the intestinal and mucus barriers, forming a hydrated fiber matrix and keeping digestive waste moving.*

Early laboratory and animal research suggests that certain fibers may interact with ingested microplastics and reduce their contact with the intestinal lining. Human research is still developing, and Fiber Shield has not been clinically proven to remove microplastics from the human body.

Fiber Shield supports the gut and elimination pathways where ingested particles are first encountered.*
